Barbera

Barbera

Barbera is an old variety with its historical roots in Italy, where today it is the second most widely planted red variety, after Sangiovese. Barbera wine tends to have a brighter ruby red color and higher acidity. Tannins are usually modest which allows for Barbera wines to be enjoyed even when young. These wines tend to be less age worthy than most other red wines. Flavors lean towards black cherries, black berries, currants and plums.
